BEIJING, Oct 16: Chinese Premier Li Qiang had extensive and in-depth exchanges with Pakistani government, parliament and military leaders and his visit achieved positive positive outcomes, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Mao Ning said on Wednesday.
“China and Pakistan are all weather strategic partners and iron clad friends. This visit by the China’s Premier of the State Council is latest in 11 years, she said during her regular briefing in response to a question about Premier Li Qiang visit of Pakistan and its major outcomes.
Mao Ning said that the visit marks the exchange at government level between the two countries within a year.
Sharing details, she said that Premier Li had indepth discussions with leaders of Pakistani government, the parliament and the military. The visit achieved three main positive results.
First, consolidating all weather friendship between China and Pakistan.
Both sides shared the view that the friendship has stood the test of time and gained renewed vigour. Under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, bilateral relations shared sound momentum of growth.
China reaffirmed that it prioritizes the relationship with Pakistan in its foreign policy.
Pakistan stressed that its relations with China is a corner stone of its foreign policy and friendship with China is an overwhelming consensus recognized by all sectors in Pakistan.
Both sides agreed to continue firmly supporting each other’s core interests and enhance high level exchanges and jointly strive for respective modernization and national rejuvenation, speed up the building of closer China-Pakistan community with shared future in the new era.
Second, deepening cooperation in various fields.
Both sides agreed to foster synergy to jointly upgrade China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), accelerate building of railway, highway, port and other major projects, step up the integrate development of industries and deepen practical cooperation in such areas as agriculture, minerals and information technology, energy, economic exchange, trade people to people and cultural exchanges so as to benefit the two countries through bilateral cooperation.
The spokesperson said that dduring the visit to Pakistan, leaders of the two countries attended the completion of ceremony of the new Gwadar international airport.
Relevant departments of both sides signed the documents covering CPEC, peoples lively hoods, science and technology, TV programmes quantile and inspection.
Third, Ensuring secure environment for cooperation.
Pakistan expressed deep condolences over the Chinese victims suffering from recent terrorist attack and promised to its best to nail down the perpetrators, fight terrorism, step up security measures and fully ensure the security and safety of Chinese personnel, projects and institutions in Pakistan.
Mao Ning said that China supports Pakistan’s efforts to fight terrorism and requests Pakistan to take targeted security measures to create a security environment for bilateral cooperation.
Both sides reaffirmed their zero tolerance attitude to to fight terrorism, beefup, bilateral and multilateral counter terrorism cooperation, pull up counter terrorism strength from international community and regional countries to jointly safeguarding regional peace and stability.
Responding to yet another question, she said that during Premier Li Qiang’s visit, the Pakistani side promised unswervingly increase security input and strengthen security measures to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel projects and institutions in Pakistan.
She said that China will firmly support Pakistan’s counterterrorism efforts and added, “We are willing to help Pakistan strengthen its counterterrorist capability building and work with Pakistan to create a secure environment for bilateral cooperation.”
